We are looking for a driven individual to join our finance team and play a key role in supporting the financial well-being of our projects. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of managing multiple tasks in a busy work environment, proficiency working with ERP software and a willingness to learn.  We are looking for someone with a positive can-do attitude who takes pride in their work. 
 
Responsibilities;
  • Perform detailed variance analysis for projects on a monthly basis to ensure projects remain on budget, or strategize on ways to improve profitability, together with the Project Managers
  • Hold monthly meetings with Project Managers to determine monthly invoicing requirements, and support AR to ensure invoices are received timely
  • Assist in preparing compliance documentation, including collection of waivers, certificates of insurance, bonding, amongst others
  • Review construction contracts and ensure project is accurately set-up in the system, including contract value, costs, division, branch, etc.
  • Importing of quotes from quoting software into ERP
  • Produce customer invoices/project draws for a variety of projects, ensuring formatting is compliant  with contract terms and customer specifications, including preparation of required backup to accompany invoice
  • Supporting large, enterprise customers through gathering backup pertaining to cost-plus contracts
  • Entering change orders into the system in order to update contract values and costs
  • Performing cost analysis on projects to create projections on remaining costs to complete.
  • Create and provide job costing reports to project managers to assist them in updating estimates on budget projections.
  • Work directly with customers to ensure invoices have been received, approved, and actioned
  • Assist with ad-hoc projects and other duties as required 
Required Qualifications;
  • Minimum 1 year of experience performing in a project accounting role, or similar
  • Intermediate excel skills
  • Detail oriented, organized, able to problem solve, multitask, work effectively under pressure, meet deadlines and prioritize workload
  • Ability to effectively work in a team environment
  • Self-starter and able to take initiative
  • Receptive to coaching and willing to learn and develop skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Eager to learn and able to apply newly acquired skills for immediate results 
Preferred Qualifications;
  • Experience with progress draw invoicing
  • Experience using billing portals
  • Post-secondary education in accounting, an asset
  • Construction project accounting knowledge, specifically around long-term contracts (WIP), an asset

  • An understanding of job financial reports and the ability control costs in the handling of projects

PHYSICAL DEMANDS;
 In general, the following physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job:
  • Must be able to effectively communicate, (i.e., see, hear, speak, and write clearly), in English, in order to communicate with colleagues and/or customers;
  • Manual dexterity required for all day computer work, occasional reaching, lifting of light office objects, and operating office equipment.
  • Ability to focus, at a computer, for extended periods of time. 
WORKING CONDITIONS;
In general, the following conditions of the work environment are representative of those that an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job:
  • The office is clean, orderly, properly lighted, and ventilated. Noise levels are considered low to moderate.
Pay Range: $65,000 - $80,000 (DOE)
