Senior Technician AV
Leadership becomes a formal part of the role. The Senior Technician is expected to lead through technical expertise, site organization, mentoring, customer communication, and ownership of field outcomes.
Responsibilities:
- Leads installation and servicing of cabling infrastructure, audiovisual systems, security systems, and related building technology devices.
- Leads installation of audio and video conferencing equipment, distributed audio, digital signage, sound reinforcement, control systems, and presentation systems.
- Performs advanced troubleshooting on system-level, device-level, programming, networking, AV, and CCTV issues.
- Sets device IDs and IP addresses and maintains supporting spreadsheets or technical records for programmers and project teams.
- Builds racks and applies proper cable management, dressing, termination, and labeling standards.
- Reads and interprets system diagrams, construction drawings, BOMs, and project specifications.
- Marks up drawings for as-builts and supports project closeout documentation.
- Organizes daily site work, helps maintain efficiency, and keeps the project team focused on site goals.
- Mentors, coaches, and trains Technicians I and II as part of normal field execution.
- Communicates project updates, technical risks, and key decisions to project managers and leadership.
- May function as the main point of contact with other trades, contractors, or customer representatives while on site.
- Ensures safety and incident reporting procedures are followed by the team.
- Progressive experience installing and maintaining complex Audio-Visual systems in a commercial environment.
- 5 or more years of experience in an AV technician role
- Primeview, CTS, CTS-I, Extron AV associate, Biamp Tesira Forte, Biamp AV Lab Crestron Professional Installation experience
- Flexibility to work in a variety of environments, from construction sites to finished corporate offices
- Valid Driver’s License and clean abstract.
- Ability to work in a high volume atmosphere
- Ability to solve practical problems and carry out responsibilities under minimal supervision.
- Ability to organize workload for effective implementation, including the ability to multi-task while under deadlines or time constraints
- Excellent interpersonal skills including customer service skills
- Ability to write simple correspondence and present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
- Ability to interact effectively at all levels and across diverse cultures.
- Experience working in the hospitality, healthcare, and/or post-secondary industries preferred
