Estimator /Estimateur / Estimatrice

As an Estimator with Paladin Technologies, your main responsibility will be to maximize the award of profitable contracts by leading estimating and bid administration activities. You will work closely with the Sales, Design, and Project Management team to ensure that our customers are provided with the highest quality service.
Ideal candidates will represent Paladin in a professional manner that aligns with our values of leadership mindset, people development, team, and client-focused. A typical day could see you responding to an RFP, holding client meetings, working with project teams during installation, or planning for the closeout of a project.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Prepare cost budgets based on drawings, specifications, and other relevant materials
• Work closely with Engineering, Sales, and PMO to develop cost estimates for labor and logistics and detailed BOM
• Identify labor, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents
• Compute and communicate costs through analysis of labor, material, and time requirements
• Engage subcontractors to augment Paladin’s areas of expertise to provide a complete solution
• Obtain best product prices from manufacturers, distributors, and subcontractors
• Maintaining technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing technical publications, establishing networks
• Coordinating bid proposal development with all relevant stakeholders

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• A minimum of three years of design experience in the information technology and integrated security systems.
• A strong understanding of the physical security and/or IT industries, including an awareness of complimentary products, technologies, trends, and the general application of physical security technology
• Bilingual proficiency in English and French is required for this position.
• An understanding of and experience with fundamental concepts pertaining to IP networks, low voltage electronics, power, and communications.
• Ability to create and edit design drawings, spread sheets, program sheets and projects handover documentation.
• Candidates must be eligible for security clearance, and having an existing clearance will be considered a strong asset
• A strong command of the English language supported by excellent written and verbal communication skills
• The ability to simultaneously handle multiple tasks and projects and be responsive to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills
• Motivated self-starter with ambition to independently research new technologies as well as engineering and business methodologies/concepts

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

• Previous and progressive experience as an Estimator in the low voltage industry with demonstrated success completing complicated estimates/designs involving access control, CCTV, intrusion detection, IP networks, intercom, duress, and/or structured cabling.
• Experience estimating projects worth between $250K-$500K or larger
• Experience working with some or all the following systems is preferred:
  • Access Control - LenelS2, Software House, Avigilon, Kantech, Genetec, AMAG, RBH
  • CCTV – Milestone, Avigilon, Genetec,
  • Intrusion – Bosch, DSC, DMP, Senstar, Southwest Microwave,
  • Network Switching – Cisco, Ruckus, HPE,
  • RTLS – Actall, Guard RFID,
  • Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) – Schneider, Omron
  • Structured cabling - Belden, CommScope, Corning, Panduit
  • Door Hardware - any- considered assets
• Experience in a technical sales role or system design would be considered an asset.
• Strong computer skills, with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, Mac OS, and project / quoting software
• Post-secondary education in electronics, electrical, or equivalent would be considered an asset
• Excellent organization and attention to detail

RESPONSABILITÉS :
 

• Préparer les budgets de coûts à partir de dessins, devis et autres documents pertinents.
• Travailler en étroite collaboration avec les équipes d’ingénierie, de ventes et de PMO pour développer des estimations de coûts liées à la main-d’œuvre, à la logistique et à la nomenclature détaillée (BOM).
• Identifier les besoins en main-d’œuvre, matériaux et temps en étudiant les propositions, plans, devis et documents connexes.
• Calculer et communiquer les coûts par l’analyse de la main-d’œuvre, des matériaux et du temps requis.
• Faire appel à des sous-traitants pour compléter l’expertise de Paladin et offrir une solution complète.
• Obtenir les meilleurs prix de produits auprès des fabricants, distributeurs et sous-traitants.
• Maintenir ses connaissances techniques en participant à des ateliers de formation, en consultant des publications spécialisées et en établissant des réseaux professionnels.
• Coordonner le développement des propositions d’appel d’offres avec toutes les parties prenantes concernées.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUISES :
 

• Minimum de trois (3) ans d’expérience en conception dans le domaine des technologies de l’information et des systèmes de sécurité intégrés.
• Solide compréhension des industries de la sécurité physique et/ou des TI, incluant la connaissance des produits, technologies et tendances complémentaires, ainsi que de l’application générale des technologies de sécurité physique.
• Maîtrise du français et de l’anglais (bilinguisme requis pour ce poste).
• Connaissance et expérience des concepts fondamentaux liés aux réseaux IP, à l’électronique basse tension, à l’alimentation électrique et aux communications.
• Capacité de créer et de modifier des dessins de conception, des feuilles de calcul, des feuilles de programme et la documentation de remise de projet.
• Les candidats doivent être admissibles à une habilitation de sécurité; une habilitation existante sera considérée comme un atout important.
• Excellente maîtrise de la langue anglaise, tant à l’oral qu’à l’écrit.
• Capacité à gérer simultanément plusieurs tâches et projets, et à s’adapter aux priorités changeantes dans un environnement dynamique.
• Solides compétences analytiques et en résolution de problèmes.
• Autonomie, motivation et volonté de rechercher de façon indépendante de nouvelles technologies ainsi que des méthodologies d’ingénierie et d’affaires.

QUALIFICATIONS SOUHAITÉES :
 

• Expérience antérieure et progressive à titre d’estimateur dans l’industrie du câblage basse tension, avec succès démontré dans la réalisation d’estimations/conceptions complexes (contrôle d’accès, vidéosurveillance, détection d’intrusion, réseaux IP, interphone, boutons d’urgence et/ou câblage structuré).
• Expérience dans l’estimation de projets d’une valeur entre 250 000 $ et 500 000 $ ou plus.
• Expérience de travail avec certains ou tous les systèmes suivants (atout) :
  • Contrôle d’accès : LenelS2, Software House, Avigilon, Kantech, Genetec, AMAG, RBH
  • Vidéosurveillance (CCTV) : Milestone, Avigilon, Genetec
