The Director of Purchasing (North America) will strategically lead our purchasing and supply chain operations. This role is critical to our success, responsible for developing and executing a procurement strategy that ensures the full business value chain is supported by creating a competitive position for the business. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the security integration industry and a proven track record of managing supplier relationships, optimize inventory, and driving efficiency. Develop and execute the North American purchasing strategy, aligning with global objectives and establishing procurement as a strategic value-add partner within a sales-oriented organization.

What You'll Do (Key Responsibilities)
  • Strategic Sourcing: Develop and implement strategic sourcing plans for direct and indirect equipment, components, and other related services and supplies, aligning with strategic tasks, company growth and project needs.
  • Vendor Management: Negotiate and manage relationships - in partnership with Sales and Operational leadership - with key suppliers and vendors securing favorable pricing, terms, service levels, and fostering Trusted Business Partnerships.
  • Supply Chain Optimization: Oversee the supply chain forecasting, procurement and logistics, and providing standards for inventory management ensuring optimal processes and automation are in place to support business needs
  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop the purchasing and warehouse teams, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and collaboration.
  • Cost Reduction & Optimization: Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality, compliance or increasing risk. Manage the budget for all procurement activities and ensure best-in-class conditions across all procurement activities.
  • Process Improvement & Digital Transformation: Drive the standardization and improvement of all purchasing processes and procedures, leveraging technology to increase efficiency and accuracy. Drive continuous optimization and standardization of purchasing processes and harmonization.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration & Global Alignment: Work closely with sales, engineering, and project management teams to forecast material needs and ensure seamless project execution.
  • Foster close collaboration with other purchasing units (e.g., Europe) and internal stakeholders across departments (e.g., Project Management, Engineering, Sales, Finance) to ensure strategic alignment.
  • Other duties as assigned to support all purchasing AND financial aspects of the company
What You'll Bring (Qualifications)

Required Qualifications:
  • Experience: 10+ years of progressive experience in purchasing or supply chain management, with at least 8 years in a leadership role preferably in a Security Systems Integration Company
  • Industry Knowledge: At least 5 years proven experience within North American construction, building technologies and security systems integration. Preferably profound experience in security systems integration or low voltage.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated experience in integrating and consolidating teams following organizational changes. Demonstrated experience leading and developing a high-performing team, with strong leadership presence to inspire and motivate.
  • Negotiation: Exceptional negotiation skills with a history of building and maintaining strong vendor relationships.
  • Technical Skills & Digital Proficiency: Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g. D365 preferred or SAP, Oracle....) and advanced data analysis skills (e.g. Microsoft Excel). Experience with e-procurement tools and a focus on digital transformation in purchasing.
  • Strategic Thinking: Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Systems Expertise: Experience with inventory management software and project management tools.
  • Travel: Ability to travel domestically and internationally (within the area of responsibility for Export Controls)
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Certifications: Professional certification such as CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management) or CSCP (Certified Supply Chain Professional).
