We have an exciting opportunity for a Director of Major Projects to join our team in the USA. The Director of Major Projects will oversee the progress of multiple large low voltage projects in a timely and cost-effective way. We are looking for an experienced, reliable leader to handle the budget, organization, implementation, and scheduling of enterprise projects. Ideally, you have handled low voltage, security, and/or structured cabling projects worth $5 million or more.

As our Director of Major Projects, your top priority is to build strong and trusted relationships with our clients and internal stakeholders, while driving & delivering a first-class multi-scope construction program. This position will challenge your abilities as a construction professional and your ability to be creative in addressing complex issues & delivering solutions will be critical in this role. RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Overseeing and directing construction projects from conception to completion within scope and budget while maintaining the highest quality delivery for our clients.
  • Reviewing the project in-depth to schedule deliverables and estimate costs.
  • Overseeing all onsite and offsite constructions to monitor compliance with building and safety regulations.
  • Work with the Discipline/Technical lead to agree on manpower required and forecast and manage labour resources throughout the project.
  • Plan and deliver all construction aspects of the projects, working with relevant parties to assist in the formation of a construction strategy.
  • Foster strong business relationships with other operations managers to build a pool of local manpower resources.
  • Regularly updates clients, stakeholders and executives with reports on the construction progress of projects.
  • Attend walkthroughs, site coordination meetings as required.
  • Assist Project mangers in development of site mobilisation and demobilisation plans.
  • Participate in risk identification and mitigation strategies for all aspects of construction.
  • Acts as a resource for Pursuits which involve large and/or long duration construction components.
  • Proactively assess risks and ensure compliance with Paladin’s health and safety requirements (exceeds industry standards)
  • Monitor adherence to established safety, infection control and risk mitigation protocols by contractors and organizational staff during project implementation.
  • Develop and foster internal and external relationships to support talent acquisition.
  • Develop and manage schedules, resource plans, procurement, project commissioning, risk mitigation strategies
  • Facilitate communication and decision-making among project team members, operations and other stakeholders

 REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 10 years’ experience as a Director / Operations Leader overseeing complex security technology projects
  • Progressive leadership experience in a construction environment with experience managing projects worth $5 million or more.
  • Experience managing low voltage, security, or structured cabling projects
  • Progressive leadership experience in construction management and/or operational excellence
  • Expert knowledge of building products, construction details, and relevant rules, regulations, and quality standards
  • Post-secondary education (Diploma or bachelor’s degree in management desirable)
  • Experience in project planning, risk management, cost / schedule management, and methods of analyzing and reporting project performance on financial and other KPI’s as demonstrated
  • A valid US Driver’s License and ability to pass pre-employment screens.
  • Availability for travel, approximately 30-40%
PREFERRED QUALIFCATIONS;
  • Previous direct commercial sales, estimating, or design experience 
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365
  • Additional industry certifications
Pay: $190,000 - $220,000 (DOE)

  • Manual dexterity required for occasional reaching, lifting of light office objects, and operating office equipment 
  • Sitting, standing, walking in office environments and construction sites 
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and may be required to work at heights over 1.8m (6 feet) 
WORKING CONDITIONS: 
In general, the following conditions of the work environment are representative of those that an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. 
  • The office is clean, orderly, properly lighted and ventilated.  Noise levels are considered low to moderate 
  • Will be required to be on site with customers or contractors, with or without Paladin colleagues to manage the expectations and deliverables. Sites range from general office environments to new construction. 
  • Driving to customer sites is required 
  • Limited overnight travel may be required
